Rossland Winter Carnival Snowman events for young carnival participants and spectators

ALL WEEKEND EVENTS

The world famous professional carving team from Slocan Snow Sculptures will be creating spectacular snow sculptures downtown and an amazing kids' double slide at the library Rossland Winter Carnival Snowman

  • Blizzard Music Festival presenting great music all weekend.   3 day passes $125 to all musical events & individual tickets available now  www.blizzardmusicfest.com 
  • Rossland's many fine restaurants and cafes are open during Carnival weekend and the NoVega Food Truck will be serving local sustainable food and June of Mook Thai will be serving delicious Thai food near the Ice Palace Beer Garden
  • Free Ice Skating at Washington & 4th Ave  open to the public all weekend weather permitting Rossland Winter Carnival Snowman
  • Winter Carnival Poster Contest open to any artist 18 or younger.  Design a poster for next year's Winter Carnival and submit poster to Nelson and District Credit Union in Rossland for display.  The winner will receive $100 prize. Rossland Winter Carnival Snowman

Golden Bear Children's Centre (2058 Spokane St at bottom of the bobsled course) will be hosting a hot beverage stand and serving soup and homemade buns.

West Kootenay Snowgoers will be serving egg mcmuffins, grilled cheese and non alcoholic beverages at Garage Restaurant parking lot (1890 Columbia Ave) for the participants and spectators at The Sonny Samuelson Bobsled Race

Award presentation at 1:30 pm at Olaus Ice Palace Beer Garden (Queen & Columbia) Rossland Beer Company will present beer glasses to the bobsled champs.

Free and easy wifi and public washrooms.  Warm up while the kids play on the ice slide with a hot chilli lunch served 11:30 - 3:30.  Come browse the books for sale by donation while you munch on lunch.  These are both fundraising events for the Library Renewal Project.

Join Kootenay Joe and Fat Bike Tours who are back for a second year of a snow discovery tour around Rossland Museum grounds (junction of Hwy 3B & Hwy 22).   Our guide will take you on a loop sharing local history and snowshoe techniques, tips and tricks.  We will stop along the way to measure the snow depth, check out a snowflake under a microscope and answer questions about the snowpack and what to consider when looking at the avalanche danger before heading into the backcountry.  We will finish up at the Museum with warm up tea and coffee.  This 45 min tour is perfect for all ages, levels and experience.  Limited snowshoes available for use.  First come, first served.  www.rosslandmuseum.ca     info@rosslandmuseum.ca or 250-362-7722

AdventureSmart will be sharing lifesaving tips and tricks on how to be "smart" on your next adventure. (Queen and Columbia) Our passionate and enthusiastic presenters will teach the children how they can "Hug a Tree & Survive" which helps search and rescue volunteers find them faster.  Participant will learn fun and easy ways to be "more prepared" for the outdoors.  We will increase your awareness to help us reduce the number and severity of SAR incidents in the province.  Get informed and go outdoors & Be AdventureSmart!

Fun for everyone!   Preregistration at  Bear Country Kitchen until January 28th and on event day from 10 am-12 pm at RED Mountain Resort in the Conference Room.  $50 per team or $20 for individuals.  Awards ceremony to follow.  NEW ROUTE - race will start and end at RED Mountain Resort
