Rossland Winter Carnival
Canada’s longest running carnival in the West Kootenay BC Since 1898
Welcome to the Official Rossland Winter Carnival Site. Friday January 28 - Sunday January 30, 2022
Rossland Winter Carnival, since 1898!
Olaus Jeldness would be amazed. He was the Norwegian miner who, way back in 1898, initiated Canada’s Oldest Winter Carnival.
We are excited to announce the return of the Rossland Winter Carnival, to be held the weekend of January 28th to January 30th, 2022!
Olaus would be astounded to see boarders and skiers flying through the air during Saturday’s fantastic “The Game” Rail Jam competition that takes place at Red Mountain this year.
With the current Public Health Order in place – and issues and concerns related to the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in our community and beyond – the Carnival will not be hosting large-participation or spectator-oriented events this year.
Event feasibility is currently being evaluated on a case-by-case basis; unfortunately, certain events will NOT be able to operate safely. This currently includes the CANCELLATION of the Sonny Samuelson Bobsled Race, the Variety Show, the Parade, the Olaus Ice Palace Beer Garden, Night Skiing, Family Fun night, King/Queen of the Mountain and Blizzard Fest.
